Dr. Daniel W. K. Kao, DDS, MS, DMD, DABP (Dr. Wenkai Kao DMD), is a world-renowned Board Certified Periodontist and a valued member of the clinical team at Reading Dental Associates. Known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach, Dr. Kao brings over two decades of advanced periodontal and implant dentistry experience to the practice. He offers a comprehensive range of cutting-edge digital implant procedures and periodontal therapies, consistently integrating the latest evidence-based techniques into his care.
A respected educator and innovator, Dr. Kao has served on the faculty of several leading institutions, including the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania, and National YangMing University. His academic contributions include directing predoctoral periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania from 2008–2011, authoring textbooks on dental implants and periodontal disease, and developing digital implant placement protocols used by clinicians worldwide. Dr. Kao’s excellence in teaching has been recognized with the American Academy of Periodontology’s Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Award.
In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Kao is an accomplished researcher and surgical innovator. He holds patents for periodontal surgical devices and has received multiple awards for his work in post-doctoral research. His educational background includes a DDS from National YangMing University, a Post-Doctoral Periodontics Certificate and MS degree from the University of Pennsylvania—where he also earned his DMD—and extensive clinical experience dating back to 1999.
